We were contracted to undertake topographical surveys across several recreational garden areas within the Nottingham University Highfields Campus.

The scope of works was to carry out detailed topographical surveys, the supplied specification from the client was for tight spacings on observations to allow for a highly accurate ground model and 3d output along with all surface and structural annotations, including materials & heights.

Though relatively small in scale compared to other surveys we undertake, ornamental and landscaped gardens can be surprisingly intensive surveys, often involving a greater intensity of detail within a smaller area. Water features and brickwork labyrinths to walled gardens and tiered seating, not to mention the wide variety of plant life, all these details are measured, processed and neatly presented in a comprehensive plan that remains quick and easy to read.

The completed drawings were to be used for landscaping purposes and the outputs we provided in both 2D & 3D with a greater emphasis on the detail of the digital terrain model as the .dwg file was to be transferred into Revit for design purposes.
All works were carried out during term times and communication with University staff allowed for a efficient survey to be carried out without causing any disruption to the University.
