Survey Hub has been providing comprehensive surveying services at Homerton Hospital in London as part of an ongoing programme of development and infrastructure improvements. Working alongside engineering consultancy Troup Bywaters and Anders LLP, our team has delivered a range of survey solutions to support various stages of the project over the past three years.
Our client, Troup Bywaters and Anders LLP, required detailed and accurate survey information to support ongoing development and maintenance works across the Homerton Hospital estate.
The key requirements included:
- Detailed topographical survey data of external areas.
- Accurate measured building survey information for existing structures.
- Underground utility mapping to identify and record buried services.
- CCTV drainage surveys to assess the condition and layout of drainage infrastructure.
- Reliable survey outputs that could be integrated into design and engineering workflows.
Given the nature of the site, all surveys needed to be completed with minimal disruption to hospital operations while maintaining the highest standards of safety and accuracy.
Our survey teams worked closely with site management and project stakeholders to carefully plan survey activities, ensuring all work could be completed efficiently while maintaining hospital operations.
The project also required coordination across multiple phases over a three-year period, with survey requirements evolving as the wider development programme progressed.
To meet the project’s requirements, Survey Hub deployed a range of advanced surveying technologies and specialist equipment. Our team carried out detailed topographical surveys across the hospital estate to capture existing site features, levels, access routes, utilities, boundaries, and infrastructure. We also completed detailed measured building surveys were undertaken to accurately record existing structures and layouts. Alongside underground utility information; collected to help identify existing services and reduce the risk of service strikes during future construction activities. Using specialist crawler camera systems, our team conducted CCTV drainage inspections to assess drainage routes and identify any defects, blockages, or maintenance requirements. The resulting drainage information supported asset management and future planning works across the hospital estate.
The Homerton Hospital project has been a significant success for both Survey Hub and the client.
Key highlights include:
